Tishri: A 30-day month during September-October. Kheshvan (Cheshvan): Either 29 or 30 days in October-November. Kislev: Another 29 or 30-day month taking place around November-December. Tevet: This month has 29-days around December-January.
January is the first month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Its length is 31 days. The first day of the month is known as New Years Day.
Exodus 12:1-2 states that Nisan is the first month in the intercalation of the new year and the Mishnah in Tractate Rosh Hashanah 1:1 describes the First of Nisan as one of the four beginnings of the Jewish New Year: There are four new years. On the first of Nisan is the new year for kings and for festivals.
For the ancient people of Israel, however, the first month of the year was the month of Abib, which roughly equates to our month of April. Speaking of Abib, God said, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you (Exodus 12:2).
Written over the course of almost a century after Jesus death, the four gospels of the New Testament, though they tell the same story, reflect very different ideas and concerns. A period of forty years separates the death of Jesus from the writing of the first gospel.
In the Hebrew calendar it is the first month of the ecclesiastical year, called the first of the months of the year (Book of Exodus 12:1-2), first month (Ex 12:14), and the month of Aviv (Ex 13:4) בְּחֹ֖דֶשׁ הָאָבִֽיב ḥōḏe hā-āḇḇ). It is called Nisan in the Book of Esther. It is a month of 30 days.
The events timeline of New Testament books spans the years from approximately 5 BCE through 95 BCE. The timeline begins with the birth of John the Baptist, Jesus cousin, and ends with the author of the Book of Revelation writing about the events happening during his time when Domitian was emperor.
It is estimated that the chronology of the Old Testament covers more than 1500 years, from approximately 2000 b.c. to 400 b.c. The setting of the Old Testament is the ancient Near East (or Middle East), extending from Mesopotamia in the northeast (modern-day Iraq) down to the Nile River in Egypt in the southwest.
