It is not technically possible to assign a contract as, generally, the burden or obligations under a contract cannot be assigned.
A rule of construction is used to interpret a document in order to determine how its provisions operate as a whole to bring about the purpose of those who drafted it.
Contract rights are considered a form of property in that they can often be assigned, or bought and sold, just like any other item.
