So Ive been getting a lot of questions recently about how to better control page numbering in a Pages document. Sometimes you want to skip pages or have a cover page. So lets take a look at how to get exactly the page numbers that you want. Pages has, of course, two modes. Word Processing and Page Layout. Lets start by looking at Word Processing. Im going to create a blank document and Im going to paste in some text here to fill out the document. So as you can see Ive got a bunch of pages here. Lets go back to the top and add page numbering. You can do it in either the Header or the Footer for the page. Lets do it in the Header right in the center. Ill click

If not, you can download it for free from the App Store. Pages is especially user-friendly for beginners because it has pre-built templates for business cards that you can modify. Once it is installed, go to FilesNewStationery. Here, choose Business Cards, to find a variety of business cards.
Add a new page template in the toolbar, then choose Edit Page Templates. in the toolbar, then choose the page template you want to use as a starting point. Type a name for the new page template, then click OK. A new page template appears below the original in the sidebar.
Use a business card template In the document manager, tap. Scroll down to the Business Cards section, then tap a template. Tap. Select text on the first card, then type your own information. To group the text boxes on the business card, tap and hold a text box, then tap the remaining text boxes with another finger.
To add page numbers, click Insert Page Number and choose a numbering style. If you dont see the pop-up menu, click Insert in the toolbar, then choose Page Number.
Choose File New (from the File menu at the top of the screen), then click Stationery on the left side of the template chooser. Scroll down to the Business Cards section, then double-click a business card template.
To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.
Your template appears in the My Templates category in the template chooser. Save: Type a name for the template, then choose where you want to save it. If you save it to iCloud, the template appears as a downloadable file in the document manager the next time you open Pages on your iPhone or iPad.
