i got a question today from a viewer who asked if they are using a business credit card and they were to get audited if the business credit card statements would be evidence enough for their purchases or if they also need to save receipts and the answer is you still need to save receipts so lets just take for example if you buy stuff from amazon for your business if you look at the credit card statement what is it going to say amazon and a dollar amount its not going to tell you what you bought and that amazon purchase could be a personal purchase or it could be a business purchase but the irs has no way to know unless there is a receipt so yes you need to save receipts im sorry thats not the answer you want to hear you could go back and try to find receipts as best as you can but ideally youre saving receipts for every single purchase you make in your business
