[Music] so lets inspect this deck on this house and its a two layer deck and the way I start is from the bottom up just the way it was constructed so Im going to get underneath the deck and take a look at the deck structure from underneath and work my way up lets go all right so Im under the deck on the ground floor and Im taking a look at the structure I cant see the footings because theyre buried underground but the posts are huge theyre Masonry Im gonna take a look at the floor joists above me two by Eights look for notches or Cuts or damage and see how theyre attached to the band Rim joist on the outer edge of the deck thats resting on the posts beam is resting on the posts Im going to take a look at the span of the floor joists well take a look to see how the joists are attached to the ledger board Im going to take a look at the ledger board see how thats attached to the house structure and look for flashing all right lets do it so again these posts masonry cant
