To apply to register a trade or service mark, a person files: an application on a form prepared by the Secretary of State; three (3) specimens of the mark as used in commerce; and. a fee of $50 (check made payable to the Secretary of State).
Filing in Maryland can be done by mail, fax, or in person through an agency. The regular filing fee is $25; theres an extra $50 for expedited processing. The fee should be addressed to the Department of Assessments and Taxation. Once theres a confirmation, youre the owner of a Maryland DBA.
Names must comply with Marylands naming requirements. The following are the most important requirements to keep in mind: Your business name must include the words limited liability commpany, LLC, or L.L.C.
If you want to establish a Maryland DBA (trade name), you must file a form with the MD DAT and pay a filing fee of $25.
You must file your amendment with your name change with the Maryland Secretary of State along with the filing fee. You can submit it by mail, in person, or through Marylands Business Express site online.
You can change pretty much any information by filing an amendment to your Maryland LLCs articles of organization including the LLCs name, principal address, and registered agent.
Preston Street, 8th Floor, and Baltimore, Maryland 21201. The Articles do not have to recite the approval of the members. This form may be used, or a document may be created based on the above format. The filing fee for this document is $100 or $150 for expedited processing.
If you are going to provide services or products only within that state, there is no reason to register for a trademark. If you are offering products and services in multiple states and want federal protection for the name of your business, though, you would need to register for a trademark.
