hey welcome back im picking off cat fur from the mic um in this video i want to talk about the wordpress rest api in this video im going to assume you know what a rest api is but maybe youre new to wordpress as a developer so the wordpress rest api has all of these different endpoints that you might want to use and the idea here is that yes some of them are publicly available but in order to use a lot of them you would need to be authenticated so were going to go over the two main ways of making that happen the first approach uses cookies the second approach was introduced in december of 2020 and its probably what youre interested in it lets you actually make requests from totally separate external applications for the first few years that the wordpress rest api existed you needed an external plug-in to make this happen but for the last sort of year and a half wordpress just has this feature built in i think its pretty cool anyways thats what were going to cover in this video
