A repositioning cruise (informal: repo cruise) is a cruise in which the embarkation port and the disembarkation port are different. This is a less common type of cruise; in the majority of cruises the ships final destination is the same as the starting point.
You can manually link your booking using your 7-digit reservation number or your stateroom number. To do so, follow these steps: First, at the bottom of your dashboard, click the View my cruises button. Then, on the top left of the Cruises page, you can search for a reservation and add a cruise.
There are many reasons why a cruise itinerary might change. They include inclement weather that forces a ship to avoid dangerous conditions, medical emergencies that require your vessel to divert to the nearest port of call, port closures, ship mechanical issues, scheduling conflicts and a host of other causes.
Many ships do reposition across the Atlantic as they move between Europe and the Caribbean, or the East Coast, or South America. But a repositioning cruise might follow a completely different route. For example, it could travel from Hawaii to Sydney across the Pacific, or through the Panama Canal.
Though your itinerary may change, cruises are rarely canceled due to storms. Ships are designed to handle rough seas and can be rerouted to avoid danger. Once youre on board, any port updates will be announced over the ships intercom or detailed in a notice delivered to your stateroom.
Yes, In fact, cruises put in all of their documentation that the itinerary is subject to change - mostly due to weather patterns. Occasionally, a port is closed because the ship arrived too late and the customs people have gone home - so nobody was permitted to get off the ship.
All necessary information about the cruise should show in the itinerary document which includes the destination, travel description, and the schedule.
You can get a refund, or a partial refund, if you ask far enough in advance. But if youre within a month or two of sailing, you wont get a cruise fare refund, even if theres an itinerary change due to war. (Youll probably get your taxes, fees and shore excursions reimbursed.)
