Hello and welcome to this session in this session I am going to go very basic step by step and we are going to learn XML schema or XSD from scratch Do not worry, If you have no prior knowledge on this topic, I will go step by step and you can also do a Hands-On along with me or you can just watch me and understand everything about XML schema So lets get started and let me first create a very simple XML here So I have created a element class and this is the start tag and an end tag, and now I have created a child element under class that is student We have a start and end tag here and under student we have first name last name and age So this is a very simple XML now an XML can be a well-formed XML and if a XML follows all the rules and syntax of a XML document that it has proper structure nesting start and end tags then Call it as a well-formed XML and we have already seen in the earlier sessions that you can use some online tools to validate your XML For example, here we are on free

A data type within an XML document is a type that has been assigned to an element on the instance using the dt:dt attribute, or through an XML Schema, a formal definition of an XML document. In addition, data types can be declared as elements. The XML parser uses the data type information to validate the document.
Empty XML Elements An element with no content is said to be empty. The two forms produce identical results in XML software (Readers, Parsers, Browsers). Empty elements can have attributes.
Create and load XML tags You can create tags from scratch or load them from another source, such as an InDesign document, InCopy document, or DTD file. Use any of the following methods to create or load XML tags for your document: Create a tag with the New Tag command. Load tags from an XML file or another document.
In the XML schema document, a default value is assigned to the default attribute. In the following example, the default for the element is Dogs. To override the default value, create an Object and assign it to the XmlDefaultValue.
Typing an Element in the XML Document To do this, declare the data type namespace at the beginning of the XML document. The dt prefix can now be used on the dt attribute to assign a data type to an instance of an element.
You can specify the default value of an XML element or XML attribute by applying a DefaultValueAttribute to a member.
You can use a DECLARE statement to create a variable of xml type, as the following example shows. DECLARE @x xml; Create a typed xml variable by specifying an XML schema collection, as shown in the following example.
XML schemas are written in XML while DTD are derived from SGML syntax. XML schemas define datatypes for elements and attributes while DTD doesnt support datatypes. XML schemas allow support for namespaces while DTD does not. XML schemas define number and order of child elements, while DTD does not.
There are two ways to describe an XML document: XML Schemas and DTDs. XML Schemas define the basic requirements for the structure of a particular XML document. A Schema describes the elements and attributes that are valid in an XML document, and the contexts in which they are valid.
A default value is automatically assigned to the attribute when no other value is specified. In the following example the default value is EN: A fixed value is also automatically assigned to the attribute, and you cannot specify another value.
