I have four tips to age brief your resume tip number one is your email address it needs to be current if youre using something like an AOL email address I know youre probably over the age of 50. tip number two dont use a job objective on your resume that was something that was used 25 30 years ago you want to use a professional summary or a Professional Profile tip number three you dont need to go back more than 10 years definitely no more than 15 when it comes to dates so if you have earlier work experience put it under something called additional work experience leave the dates off and that also includes education dates that you graduated from college and finally tip number four dont end the resume with references available on request again its not needed and it actually shows your age because thats something that used to be done 25 30 years ago

Is it necessary to include your date of birth on a resume? While the decision ultimately rests with you, it is generally recommended to avoid mentioning your date of birth. Unlike in the past, including personal details like age or marital status on your resume is no longer expected or encouraged.
You should not include personal information such as age, marital status, religion, etc. ✓ Know the company. It never hurts to do a little research on the company to which you are applying. Try to include something about the company that interests you or that may even have prompted you to apply for the position.
Use the header If you dont want to include other personal details, try putting your date of birth in the header of your resume. Underneath your name and contact information, include a line that briefly lists your date of birth.
It is recommended to leave out personal details such as age, marital status, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and political affiliation on your resume, as this could be seen as inappropriate and lead to potential discrimination.
For traditional resumes, format the dates with right alignment. You can highlight the date and choose Align Right in the text formatting menu of your word processing program. You can use a dash to show a date range (for example, June 2020 May 2023).
You should not include your age on a resume because it can prevent you from being hired. Although many employers have adjusted their hiring process to reduce bias based on age, hiring discrimination still exists in the workplace. For many, this bias is implicit, meaning its unintentional but inherent in people.
While its ultimately your decision, its best to always exclude your age from your resume. Doing so prevents hiring managers from discriminating you based on your age.
While youll have to provide dates in your work experience section, you can age-proof your resume by removing older roles as well as dates related to education and certifications if they fall outside that 15-year window, recommends Augustine.
