The LSAT writing sample used to be part of test day, but as of June 2019 it is done separately. LSAT takers will have one year after the LSAT to complete the writing sample. But you should know: Your LSAT score is not complete until the writing sample is submitted and processed.
After you take your LSAT, you still technically have one year to complete the LSAT Writing Section but LSAC will not release your scores for the LSAT you took until you have a writing sample on file.
Candidates are eligible to take LSAT Writing starting eight (8) days prior to their LSAT administration. For your LSAT to be considered complete, you will need to take the LSAT Writing section of the test if you do not already have a writing sample on file from a previous LSAT administration.
Your LSAT score will be posted to the LSAT Status page of your LSAC account. You will receive an email when your score is available. All test takers must have a completed LSAT Writing sample on file in order to see their score or have their score released to law schools.
Once you get your score back, you can start sending it out to schools. To do this, all you need to do is choose which law schools to send your score to through the Law School Admissions Councils website. There is no limit, really.
The short answer is to submit your application as early as you can. However, dont expect admissions offices to review it, and a decision to be made, until after they receive your new LSAT score.
Yes. Each candidate will have an opportunity to read their writing sample immediately after completing the exam.
A cancelled LSAT score is a valid LSAT score. Many law schools accept cancelled scores and view them as valid. If you cancel your score, it will be reported to the ABA and LSDAS as a no report or NR.
