AND AN ARIZONA WOMAN DID PURCHASE THIS THINKING IT WOULD HELP. BUT IT IS JUST LEFT HER FRUSTRATED. SO UNDER THIS MORNING, JOE, LET YOU KNOW WAYS YOU COULD POTENTIALLY AVOID THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE A CERAMICS CLUB WE CAN PAINT THINGS AND THEY HAVE SOME OLD SORT OF US ARE STABLE AND BAR DAYS LIFE. ITS A LIFE SHE WANTED TO SHARE WITH HER DAUGHTERS. SHE BOUGHT TREES FOR EACH OF THEM FROM A LOCAL SHOP IN MESA AND PAIN OF THEM ARE SELF. MY MOM. WHEN I WAS LITTLE DID CERAMICS AND IVE STILL GOT PIECES FROM HER. THAT ARE DATED IN THE LATE 60S. You can purchase insurance at any Post Office facility or online in amounts up to $5,000 depending on the mail class. Priority Mail Express service provides insurance up to $100 free of charge. Additional incremental insurance up to $5,000 can be purchased.
The printed online label record must clearly identify the following information: The USPS Tracking number of the insured parcel. The total postage paid. The insurance fee paid. The declared value. The declared mailing or shipping date. The origin ZIP Code and delivery ZIP Code, or a printed online label record.
Up to $100 insurance coverage included in price of postage. Additional coverage may be purchased at any Post Office in increments up to $5,000.
INSURED MAIL You can purchase insurance coverage up to $5,000 for Standard mail, as well as Standard mail matter mailed at the Priority Mail or First-Class Mail rate. For articles insured for more than $50, a receipt of delivery is signed by the recipient and filed at the delivery post office.
Most packages now qualify for free insurance*** up to $50 or $100 for Commercial Plus customers and thats with current Priority Mail rates staying the same.
Go to .usps.com/insurance/online.htm for more information about online insurance. For insurance coverage of more than $500, you may purchase retail insurance at a Post Office. Retail insurance provides coverage up to $5,000 and may not be combined with online insurance.
Whether or not shipping insurance is worth the cost depends on your shipping volume and the value of your items. The chance of an average letter or package getting lost or damaged is relatively small. But if you are shipping a high volume of valuable items, then shipping insurance will likely pay for itself.
