You can open a . DOCX file with a Windows or Mac computer and mobile devices. If you dont have Microsoft Word, you can use Google Drive to open the file.
Add a password to Microsoft Office First, open the Office document you would like to protect. Click the File menu, select the Info tab, and then select the Protect Document button. Click Encrypt with Password. Enter your password then click OK.
Restrict Editing Click Review Protect Restrict Editing. Under Editing restrictions, select Allow only this type of editing in the document, and make sure the list says No changes (Read only). Select Yes, Start Enforcing Protection.
Protect a document with a password Go to File Info Protect Document Encrypt with Password. Type a password, then type it again to confirm it. Save the file to make sure the password takes effect.
It is a pretty simple way to password protect files as follows: Go to the folder you want to protect, right-click on it and select Properties. Click on the General tab Advanced Check the Encrypt contents to secure data checkbox OK.
You can easily add a password to DOCX document within a couple of clicks and download a protected file. To password protect DOCX documents were using ECMA-376 Standard Encryption (AES128 + SHA1).
Remove a password from a document Open the document and enter its password. Go to File Info Protect Document Encrypt with Password. Clear the password in the Password box, and then click OK.
Go to Review Protect Document. Under Security, you can select whether to enter a password to open the document, modify the document, or both. Enter each password again to confirm.
Click on File Password Protect. Choose a strong password, including special characters, numbers, and a mix of upper and lowercase letters. You have the option to password-protect the PDF file for viewing or editing. Upload Your Document to Google Docs: Upload your password-protected PDF document to Google Docs.
Use Google Docs Register for a Google account if you dont have one. Open Google Drive. Drag and drop your Word document into your Google Drive. After it uploads, you can open it. Google Docs will open in a new tab. Youre now free to view and edit the file as you wish. Save the file to your PC or device if needed.
