Firefox made ECH available in version 118, which was released on September 26, 2023. In Firefox 119 which was released on October 24, 2023 it was enabled by default. However, its important to note that ECH is only active when DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) is enabled.
How do I enable ECH in Firefox? To use ECH in Firefox, update Firefox if you are not using version 118 or above and enable DNS over HTTPS.
To import a client certificate to Firefox, open the menu and select Preferences. Navigate to the Certificates tab and click View Certificates, then Your Certificates, and finally, Import.
To turn on DoH, you need to go to chrome://settings/security scroll down some and then enable Use Secure DNS. To then enable ECH, goto chrome://flags/, search for encrypted clienthello and enable that.
Step-by-step Guidelines Open Firefox. On the Settings tab, click Privacy Security. Under the Certificates menu, click on View Certificates to view the certificate store contents. Click the Authorities tab, then click Import. Browse to your Certificate and click Open.
In cases where inspection of domain names in TLS connections is acceptable and desirable, ECH can be disabled by visiting chrome://flags in Google Chrome and searching for Encrypted ClientHello or by simply visiting chrome://flags/#encrypted-client-hello instead and setting the property to Disabled .
Enable ECH To enable ECH, go to SSL/TLS Edge Certificates Open external link and enable Encrypted ClientHello (ECH): Log into the Cloudflare dashboard Open external link . Select your account and zone.
