In this tutorial led by Rob Price, the MS Safeties Program and Resource Director, Lui Lui Juani demonstrates effective first aid assessment teaching. The session aims to achieve four key objectives: 1) understand the three phases of assessment, 2) demonstrate an initial assessment, 3) recognize situations that require calling 9-1-1, and 4) prioritize life-threatening conditions, such as respiratory arrest and severe bleeding. Students must prioritize their own safety during assessments, only moving patients for life-saving treatments or when the scene is unsafe. Emphasis is placed on assessing patients in their found position and controlling severe bleeding before splinting.
