Loaded labor rates exceed the basic wage of an employee to include indirect costs. For example, if an employee earns $10 per hour, the loaded labor rate will be higher to cover additional expenses. Materials in T&M contracts are reimbursed at cost, and there are instances where general and administrative (G&A) expenses can be negotiated to be added to materials. While T&M rates are fixed, the number of labor hours is not predetermined.
