The tutorial begins by creating a document formatted in Times New Roman, 12-point font, following MLA guidelines, including double spacing and inserting page numbers with the last name at the top. The presenter emphasizes the importance of properly placing the heading, which includes the student's name, the instructor's name, course section number, date of submission, and centering the original title, preparing for the submission of the paper.
