Go to File Info Protect Document Encrypt with Password.
To turn on Windows device encryption Sign in to Windows with an administrator account (you may have to sign out and back in to switch accounts). For more info, see Create a local or administrator account in Windows 10. Select the Start button, then select Settings Update Security Device encryption.
Add a Password to Microsoft Office First, open the Office document you would like to protect. Click the File menu, select the Info tab, and then select the Protect Document button. Click Encrypt with Password. Enter your password then click OK.
In client, search for and open the Data Encryption Management page. Choose Export Encryption Key. On the message about saving the encryption key, choose Yes. In the Set Password window, enter the password that will protect the exported key file, and then choose OK.
Windows 10 automatically encrypts any file downloaded to the desktop or any other external drive (lock icon appears). I have to right-click the file(s), go to Properties Advanced and uncheck encrypt contents to secure data.
Microsofts Windows operating system and Office suite have some built-in file-encryption features. Heres how to use them. If youre looking for a simple way to keep files and folders private on your Windows computer, you have several options right in front of you.
Right-click (or press and hold) a file or folder and select Properties. Select the Advanced button and select the Encrypt contents to secure data check box. Select OK to close the Advanced Attributes window, select Apply, and then select OK.
