Insert a date that updates automatically If youd like the date to be updated every time someone opens the document, you can insert the date as a field. On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Date Time. In the Date and time dialog box, select the format you want. Select the Update automatically check box.

Click where you want to insert the date or time. In the Categories box, select Date and Time. In the Field names box, select CreateDate, PrintDate, or SaveDate. In the Date formats box, select the date and time format that you want for example, 2/12/2017 9:45 PM or 12 February 2017.
Go to Settings Settings, navigate down to Default date format, set the default date field format, then select Save changes. Any new field you add to a document will now follow this format. You can also set the format for an individual date field within a document.
Turn on Track Changes to show edits made in a document, and use Show Markup to show the types of revisions youd like to display. Select Review Track Changes to turn it on. Make edits in your document and Word captures any edits you make. Select Review Track Changes to turn it off.
