Can TiN Coating Be Removed? TiN can be removed from tool steels, other ferrous materials, and some other types of metal using a hydrogen peroxide solution. The process is exothermic, so parts can be damaged during the stripping process if they are not closely monitored. It is best to leave stripping to the experts.
Tinning is the term used to describe the action of putting a thin coat of solder over something else, for instance copper foil, a brass vase cap, or a soldering iron tip. One reason may be to protect the metal from the air, which is usually in reference to a soldering iron tip.
Select the TIN Editing drop-down menu and select Start Editing TIN. Select the Delete TIN Breakline tool from the TIN Editing toolbar. Interactively select the breaklines to delete from the TIN surface.
If the interior of the pot is still oxidized and dark, use sandpaper to remove the oxidation. If the shape allows, an orbital sander with 200 grit works great. Otherwise sandpaper itself works. If the interior remains quite dark, use a metal stripper to remove the oxidized tin, with the proper safety equipment.
Conventionally, a layer of tin or tin-lead alloy on copper substrates of a circuit board is removed by the use, for example, of a mixed solution of borofluoric acid and hydrogen peroxide or nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide.
The tin oxide is electrolytically removed by either reducing the tin oxide to tin metal and then dissolving the tin, or creating a bubble of hydrogen gas at the coater surface/tin oxide interface. Pressure of the hydrogen gas forces the tin oxide to break away from the coater at the coater surface/tin oxide interface.
Possible industrial methods for removing tin from the surface of steel plates are: melting, mechanical removal, chlorination, chemical dissolution and electrolysis.
Our retinning charge is $7.00 per measured inch and we have FREE INBOUND SHIPPING process - no matter how many pieces you send. The measurement is simply the diameter of the pot + 2 times the height. Oval and rectangular pans should be measured the long way and if the pot has a cover just add another diameter.
