all right I want to talk about base64 itamp;#39;s a very important topic if you ever wanted to do something like save a binary file inside of an XML file or a JSON file or be able to pass it on to the server as a string base64 is what you need to understand so what is it well itamp;#39;s rendered as text so you can take some binary information and then represent it as a string of characters and the characters are made up of the values 0 through 63 so thereamp;#39;s 64 different values and as far as when itamp;#39;s displayed on the screen what youamp;#39;re getting is capital a - Iamp;#39;m sorry that should be Z naught B capital A to Z lowercase a to Zed airwheel lowercase a to Z 0 through 9 the + and the forward slash those characters so all this information is going to be rendered as a string of these characters so how does it work well it takes all of your information so your binary file it reads all the data inside there and it takes it in 3 byte chunks so thereamp;#39;s 8

This error happens when the string that you are trying to transform contains a character not recognized by the basic Base 64 Alphabet (in this case it was an underscore character).
Base64 is a scheme for converting binary data to printable ASCII characters, namely the upper- and lower-case Roman alphabet characters (AZ, az), the numerals (09), and the + and / symbols, with the = symbol as a special suffix code. The datas original length must be a multiple of eight bits.
What is Radix 64 Encoding? Radix 64 encoding allows binary data stored in octets (i.e. bytes) to be expressed as printable characters.
Base64 strings tend to end in one or two equal signs, but not always! These strings are not exact representations of the binary data in ASCII, because padding is applied to ensure the string length is a multiple of 4 characters. Each equal sign represents two bits of zero-padding.
Memory cost depends on byte length By the way, if you use only 7 bits per character, then base64 must be less wasteful in terms of memory usage. The main theory is that base64 causes a memory overhead of 33% (or 37% or whatever).
By reading the wiki it seems that in Base64 transfer encoding for MIME (RFC 2045) spaces are allowed and discarded. In all other variants they are forbidden.
With its ability to represent binary data as text, it has become a popular choice for data transmission over networks and storage of data. However, the standard Base 64 encoding has its limitations, such as its output being larger than the input, and the use of padding characters.
The whole point of using Base64 is to convert arbitrary bytes to text, but compression does the inverse - it outputs arbitrary bytes! However, from this very quick and dirty test we can conclude: The Base64 size is 4/3 times larger than the original size, as expected.
