Instead of displaying original characters, either asterisk (*) or dots (.) are shown when a password is entered. Thus the entered characters are masked or hidden. To make a textbox that can hide the entered characters, the type attribute of element should be set to password.
Use the type=password attribute in the input element. This will mask the characters entered, providing a basic level of security by preventing prying eyes from seeing the password. 2. You can use the pattern attribute to enforce specific password requirements right in the HTML.
