You can apply zipper lubricant to help the zipper slide more smoothly, as well. Most zipper lubricants include a brush on the bottle but if yours doesnt, you can use an old toothbrush designated for chores.

Rub the Zipper with The Tip of a Pencil The graphite in pencil lead naturally makes for an effective dry lubricant to get zippers unstuck. For best results, use a traditional wooden pencil instead of a mechanical version, as its easier to get the graphite onto the zipper.
Warm Water: If debris or minor obstructions are causing the problem, soaking the stuck zipper in warm water can help expand the fabric and loosen it the jam. Pliers: Carefully using pliers to grip and gently wiggle the zipper pull can sometimes help release it from its stuck position.
Lubricate: Rub soap or a candle stick liberally over the zippers teeth. Alternatively, you can use liquid or gel lubricants, such as Vaseline or WD-40, but use a cotton swab to apply these products to avoid staining the surrounding fabric. Get it moving again.
Rub the zipper with wax. You can use wax paper, paraffin wax, or even candle or crayon wax. Basically, the wax will lubricate the zipper, making it easier to pull up and down. Youll need to lubricate both sides for this step to work. For the wax paper, tear off a small sheet of wax paper.
The most effective solution is to push the slider down again when your zipper is stuck and use household objects, like a bit of bar soap, clear lip balm, or the point of a graphite pencil (all can act as lubricants), says Mike Roussell, owner of The Tailor Shop in Stowe, Vt.
