Rubbing alcohol is the #1 method for DIY ink stain removal. But if rubbing alcohol doesnt remove your stubborn stain, here are a few more techniques you can try: Remove ink stains using fingernail polish remover, following the same method outlined above. Spray the stain with alcohol-based hair spray, such as Aquanet.
Use a Q-Tip soaked in a solvent like brake fluid, acetone, or rubbing alcohol to lift ink out of the page. If chemicals dont work, try carefully rubbing the ink off with an eraser, razor blade, or even a fine-grit sander. If the ink just wont come out, cover it with correction fluid or paper.
The most common solvent for removing ballpoint pen ink is rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol). Apply alcohol to the stain, leave on for a few minutes and blot with a paper towel. Repeat until the ink appears to be removed. There will still be a stain which is not the ink itself but the coloring agent.
In addition to common household products like hairspray and hand sanitizer, other products like baking soda or vinegar may also be powerful enough to interact with the ink and help make the stain easier to remove. Look for cleaning products containing isopropyl alcohol to help break down the stain.
Acetone. While it doesnt work for every type of pen, acetone is an adequate ink remover if you want to remove ink from ballpoint or gel pens. Due to the fact that acetone contains chemical properties that break down the pigments in ink, it can be used to remove unwanted mistakes.
How To Remove Ink From Paper Sand eraser. Ink removal with a blade. Correction tape or fluid. Erasable ink. Acetone. Rubbing alcohol.
Apply a solvent like rubbing alcohol, hair spray, or hand sanitizer to an inconspicuous area of the garment with a cotton swab and let it sit for 1 to 3 minutes. Blot with a paper towel, and if no color comes off on the towel, continue to pretreat. Blot excess ink with a paper towel to remove ink from clothes.
Apply rubbing alcohol, hair spray, or hand sanitizer to dilute the stain, making it easier to remove during the wash. These solvents help tackle most types of ink stains but remember to test the stained garment for colorfastness first as they can also attack fabric dyes and cause further damage.
