hello friends welcome to the second part of the complete series on photoemission spectroscopy in the previous video we have seen the basic principles and instrumentation of xps if you have missed that video you can find the link for the first video in description box now letamp;#39;s talk about the spectra obtained from the xps instrument we have seen that the instrument gives a plot of kinetic energy versus the number of electrons counted so number of electrons counted is plotted in y-axis and kinetic energy is plotted in x-axis so now you can see that it starts from the lower kinetic energy in the left and goes to higher kinetic energy in right as normally a graph is plotted but in most of the modern instruments kinetic energy is converted to binding energy with the formula h nu is equals to binding energy plus kinetic energy plus phi therefore the lower kinetic energy becomes higher binding energy and higher kinetic energy becomes lower binding energy this means now x-axis starts f

ClimaFoam XPS Board - 1,200mm wide Thickness (mm)R-ValueCompressive Strength (kPa) 100 3.3 300 30 1.0 300 40 1.3 300 50 1.7 3006 more rows
The RSI values of XPS (RSI 0.88/inch), polyiso (RSI 0.88/inch*), and mineral wool (RSI 0.7/ inch) are all very similar. Assuming that air leakage and thermal bridging are properly addressed in the envelope design, the choice of insulation may be a simple matter of cost if based solely on thermal performance.
Over the course of time, the R-value drops because the added blowing agents found in the final product eventually is replaced with air making the product less heat resistant. An initially rated R-value 5.0 XPS product will eventually drop to closer to an R-value of 4.3.
For example, the service life of EPS and XPS building insulation materials has been estimated at 35-50 years for EPS and to equal the building lifetime for XPS (Kono et al., 2016) .
While XPS has an initially high R-value of 5 per inch, it is not stable and will degrade over time. Because XPS can absorb moisture (like soil), its R-value can drop substantially over its service life. On the other hand, EPS maintains its stable R-value to provide homes with long-lasting below slab insulation.
A useful feature of XPS is that it carves like wood and is easy to sand but please wear proper PPE as XPS foam dust gets in the air, your eyes, and lungs easier than EVA dust does.
During the life of these foams, air from the atmosphere diffuses in and the trapped gases diffuse out. The result is polyiso and XPS lose R-value over their lifetime.
XPS foam is completely safe to cut unlike some other insulation products, which can cause temporary irritation of the eyes, itching and redness of the skin.
