The readonly attribute makes a form control non-editable (or read only). A read-only field cant be modified, but, unlike disabled , you can tab into it, highlight it, and copy its contents.
The readonly attribute is a boolean attribute. When present, it specifies that an input field is read-only. A read-only input field cannot be modified (however, a user can tab to it, highlight it, and copy the text from it).
: The Strikethrough element. The HTML element renders text with a strikethrough, or a line through it. Use the element to represent things that are no longer relevant or no longer accurate.
The disabled attribute when used with the element will disable the element, and grey it out (with default styling).
Steps Open an HTML file in a text editor to begin. Now place the tags before and after the text to enable text movement. Optionally, use the direction attribute within to set the texts movement direction. If desired, use the behavior attribute to alternate the texts movement direction.
ing to HTML specs, the select tag in HTML doesnt have a readonly attribute, only a disabled attribute. So if you want to keep the user from changing the dropdown, you have to use disabled . The only problem is that disabled HTML form inputs dont get included in the POST / GET data.
Using readOnly attribute This makes the input field uneditable while visually indicating that it is in a read-only state and cannot be editable.
The readonly attribute makes a form control non-editable (or read only). A read-only field cant be modified, but, unlike disabled , you can tab into it, highlight it, and copy its contents. Setting the value to null does not remove the effects of the attribute. Instead use removeAttribute(readonly) .
