An eligible expense is any healthcare or dependent care expense approved by the IRS for reimbursement through the plan.
Not everyone is eligible for an SF MRA. You are not eligible if: You did not work in San Francisco since 2008. You are not covered under San Franciscos Health Care Security Ordinance because you did not work in San Francisco for at least 90 days and did not work at least 8 hours per week.
You can use your debit card to pay your portion of eligible medical, dental, and vision expenses. You can use your debit card at provider offices. For medical claims usually processed by your health plan, simply write your debit card number on your doctors bill and return it to the provider.
Your MRA can be used for eligible medical and prescription drug out-of-pocket expenses only. It cannot be used for dental or vision expenses. Your HCSA can also be used for eligible medical and prescription drug out-of-pocket expenses after your MRA is depleted, as well as for eligible dental and vision expenses.
Generally, Medicare will provide coverage only for MRA or for CA when used as a diagnostic test. However, if both MRA and CA of the chest are used, the physician must demonstrate the medical need for performing these tests.
How this concept works: With an MRA, the employer purchases a self-funded health plan with an annual deductible of no less than $1,000 per person.
