letamp;#39;s make a repeating background pattern in procreate start with a square canvas on its own layer fill in a background color we can then draw in our main artwork on a new layer iamp;#39;m going to take those two layers and iamp;#39;m going to put them in their own group and then iamp;#39;m going to duplicate that group weamp;#39;re going to take that first group and move it off canvas grab the arrow tool and then go to snapping tools along the bottom and turn on magnetics and snapping move that first group halfway off the canvas then take the second group and move it to the other side make sure these two blocks line up perfectly in the middle now we can draw some extra fiddly parts in the open spaces duplicate the art again move the first layer up and the second layer down add some more art to fill in the rest of the open spaces now we can merge it all and we have a repeating pattern subscribe and check out this channel for my intro to drawing series

Over the years, the pencil with the unique rectangular eraser became synonymous with quality. Then, in 1998, after several corporate acquisitions, it was discontinued, but not forgotten. In fact, fans began paying as much as $40 on eBay for a single Blackwing pencil.
The Original Blackwing 602: Favourite of artists and writers John Steinbeck, Quincy Jones, Sondheim Bernstein, Nabokov, animator Shamus Culhane (of Disneys Snow White), and cartoonist Chuck Jones all famously favoured these pencils.
Blackwings are longer than a typical pencil, making them particularly comfortable for drawing with, and they come in four different grades of lead (more on this below).
H, F, HB and B: A popular go-to for simple sketches and writing. HB is often used as a multi-purpose pencil because its clear enough to write and draw but has minimal smudging. B grades: The softer texture and darker marks make these pencils ideal for shading and tonal modelling.
The Blackwing 602 is a pencil that is noted for its soft, dark graphite, unique flat square ferrule and replaceable eraser. It was manufactured by the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company from 1934 to 1988, then by the Faber-Castell pencil company from 1988 to 1994 and by Sanford from 1994 to 1998.
The softest is the Blackwing Matte, which is comparable to a 4B pencil. The Matte pencil writes with a smooth, dark line thats great for shading and drawing. Next is the Pearl, which has a balanced lead: still dark and soft, but with a harder point that stays sharp longer.
Per Blackwings description, the Pearl also features a balanced and smooth graphite core that is softer than the graphite found in the Blackwing 602, but firmer than the graphite found in the Blackwing. In other words, a dark pencil like the original Blackwing with better point retention for writers.
The best pencils for drawing and sketching are a HB, 2B, 6B and 9B. Far better than buying a whole set of pencils, most of which will never be used.
