You can easily clear the formatting for selected text. The AutoFormat feature in Word controls many features that can be annoying to some. Access the AutoFormat Control by navigating to the File Tab Menu select Options Proofing AutoCorrect . Choose AutoFormat As You Type. You can pick and choose which features youd like by selecting or deselecting check boxes.
4 Use Clear Formatting This will reset your text to the default font, size, color, and alignment. To use Clear Formatting, select the text you want to clear, go to the Home tab and click on the Clear Formatting icon. Then, you can apply a new style or formatting as you wish.
How do you solve the problem? Turn off the setting in Word that causes explicit formatting to be absorbed into the underlying styles. You do that by following these steps: Display the Home tab of the ribbon and then click the small icon at the bottom-right of the Styles group.
