In his 2011 book, Infringement Nation, Professor John Tehranian conducts a thought experiment where he tracks a guyamp;#39;s encounter with copyright law through the course of an unremarkable day. Section 506(d) of Title 17 prohibits the removal or alteration of a notice of copyright from a copy of a copyrighted work, again, if performed with fraudulent intent. Violations of 506(c) and 506(d) are each punishable by a fine of up to $2,500.
Are copyrights transferable? Yes. Like any other property, all or part of the rights in a work may be transferred by the owner to another.

However, once a works copyright protection expires, the work is released to the public domain. No one owns its copyright once that happens. You reverse copyright an original work by first obtaining copyrights on the original work, and then surrendering the original works to the public.
Only the owner of copyright in a work has the right to prepare, or to authorize someone else to create, a new version of that work. ingly, you cannot claim copyright to anothers work, no matter how much you change it, unless you have the owners consent.
Generally, copyright protection lasts for the length of the authors life plus another 70 years. In the case of joint works, copyright protection lasts for the length of the life of the last surviving joint author plus another 70 years.
