The Backspace key is a keyboard key that deletes any character before the cursors current position or the left. The backspace key is sometimes referred to as the rubout key, which is a reference to a rubout key found on the early termination and computer keyboards.
The backspace key is a keyboard key thats used to erase any character or symbol before the cursor on your screen. Its usually located just above the Enter key and is often indicated by an arrow pointing to the left.
To get the letter, character, sign or symbol DEL : ( Delete ) on computers with Windows operating system: 1) Press the Alt key on your keyboard, and do not let go. 2) While keep press Alt, on your keyboard type the number 127, which is the number of the letter or symbol DEL in ASCII table.
The delete control character (also called DEL or rubout) is the last character in the ASCII repertoire, with the code 127. It is supposed to do nothing and was designed to erase incorrect characters on paper tape. It is denoted as ^? in caret notation and is U+007F in Unicode.
Pressing Delete (DEL) also deletes the currently highlighted text, image or group of images. The Delete key removes characters to the right of the cursor, whereas the Backspace key deletes to the left.
Backspace ( Backspace ) is the keyboard key that in typewriters originally pushed the carriage one position backwards, and in modern computer systems typically moves the display cursor one position backwards, deletes the character at that position, and shifts back any text after that position by one character.
Rubout was a destructive backspace (your backward delete): it deletes the character you just typed, or behind the cursor. Backspace was non-destructive, it moves the cursor backward.
If you wish to do this, a common key to use as the alternate Backspace key is the Rub Out (or DEL) key.
