On February 2, 2016, Ancestry.com announced that Software MacKiev, the company that had developed the Mac version of the software for more than six years, would acquire the Family Tree Maker brand, and take over the development and publishing of Mac and Windows editions.
Visually similar to an org chart, this diagram is usually presented in a tree structure starting with one individual as the root. From the root, lines representing branches terminate in boxes representing leaves. Each leaf represents individual family members with information such as birth, marriage, and death dates.
To change how dates are formatted, select Tools from the dropdown menu, then choose Options. From this window, select Names/Dates/Places and a format (such as Day Month Year) for both display and input formats. (Mac users: Select Preferences, then Dates/Names/Places.)
Family Tree Maker Font Styles and Sizes The default font size in Family Tree Maker for most items is 6 or 7 points which is way too small to use for printing. While it may look fine on your monitor when you zoom in on an entry, youll probably want most of your font selections to be between 8 and 12 points.
If the original does not give a standard date with month, day, and year, the original text should be preserved, with the interpretation provided in editorial square brackets so that the reader can be assured that the date is correct: 1st day 3rd month [May] 1730, 1st day 3rd month [March] 1830, 9 7ber [September] 1800,
Dates: List dates in dd mmm yyyy format (for example: 25 Dec 1928). If youre unsure of the day or year, use the words before, after, or about before the date. You can also use ca. (circa) to indicate an estimate.
