If the stand mixer stops due to overload, slide the speed control lever to OFF. After a few minutes, the stand mixer will automatically reset. Slide the Speed Control Lever to the desired speed and continue mixing. If the stand mixer does not restart, see the Troubleshooting Problems section.
Some mixers have an internal Thermal Overload Protection switch, which will turn the mixer off if it overheats, depending on what you were mixing and the length of time the mixer was in use. Once the mixer has cooled down completely (about 30 minutes), the mixer should be able to be turned back on.

Many of the bowls in the kitchenaid stand mixer collection are designed to be dishwasher. Safe we recommend placing them in the upper. Rack.
This can happen if something hard fell into the bowl while mixing (e.g., a measuring spoon, the attachment hub cover, or hard ingredients). Most likely, a gear in the mixer motor has become stripped or damaged, which would require repair or replacement.
IMPORTANT: The housing of the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment must be hand-washed only using warm, soapy water. The Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment blades and accessories are dishwasher safe, top rack only.
If your mixer malfunctions or fails to operate, please check the following: Is the mixer plugged in? Is the fuse in the circuit to the mixer in working order? If you have a circuit breaker box, be sure the circuit is closed. Turn off the mixer OFF for 10-15 seconds, then turn it back on.
The beater hitting the side of a bowl lift mixer means that the bowl has not been adequately snapped into place, even though it may appear level. Ingredients on the bottom of the bowl not being incorporated means the beater is too high. Tilt-head not locking into place means the beater is too high.
Auto-reset motor protection If the Stand Mixer stops due to overload, slide the speed control lever to 0 (OFF) and unplug the Stand Mixer. After a few minutes, the Stand Mixer will automatically reset. Plug the Stand Mixer back in and slide the speed control lever to the desired speed and continue mixing.
