When a ZIP Code straddles multiple cities, the USPS standard is followed and the default city name is used on the report. However, the data for the entire ZIP Code is in the report regardless of how many city names may refer to the ZIP Code.

When looking at postal codes around the world, there are cases where two different cities are served by the same postal code. For example, the zip code 94608 in California is used for both Emeryville and parts of Oakland.
There ARE duplicate zip codes in the USA. Look up zip code 34993, or 34934 along with many others that are the same zip code in 2 different states. you can look up the others.
ZIP Codes are not drawn ing to state boundaries, so dome do cross county and state boundaries. For example: 42223 spans Christian County, Kentucky, and Montgomery County, Tennessee; 97635 includes portions of Lake County, Oregon, and Modoc County, California; and.
In all numeric values, leading zeros are dropped during a mail merge. For zip codes and other numbers to come through a mail merge without losing zeros, they should be formatted as text. To have it done, select the column with numbers and choose Text in the Number Format box on the Home tab.
ZIP Code or ZIP+4 does not match City/State. If undeliverable there, it is forwarded to the Post Office as stated by city and state.
When a ZIP is split by any of the other geographies, that ZIP code is duplicated in the crosswalk file. In the example below, ZIP code 03870 is split by two different Census tracts, 33015066000 and 33015071000, which appear in the tract column.
