A ZIP Code (an acronym for Zone Improvement Plan) is a system of postal codes used by the United States Postal Service (USPS). The term ZIP was chosen to suggest that the mail travels more efficiently and quickly (zipping along) when senders use the code in the postal address.
In all numeric values, leading zeros are dropped during a mail merge. For zip codes and other numbers to come through a mail merge without losing zeros, they should be formatted as text. To have it done, select the column with numbers and choose Text in the Number Format box on the Home tab.
Whenever you encounter a validation error because of a country that does not utilize ZIP codes, you can attempt to compel the address. You can create a replacement postal code by entering 00000. It should not be an issue if you apply this flawed postal code. Because its nonexistent.
A ZIP+4 Code is a 4-digit code appended to a standard 5-digit ZIP that helps the USPS sort, route, and deliver mail more efficiently. The last 4 digits of these 9-digit ZIP Codes usually represent 6-20 delivery points on a USPS carrier route.
If prompted for your ZIP code, just enter the three digits of your postal code plus two zeros. So for example, if your postal code is A2B 3C4, the 5 digit number you should enter is 23400.
Heres how you can convert your postal code into a ZIP code: Check the postal card associated with your credit cards billing address (for example, B1C 2D3). Take the three numbers in your postal code and add two zeros (123 + 00). When asked for a U.S. ZIP code, enter the new five-digit number you created (12300).
Contact your local Post Office and request their assistance in resolving the problem. All information in our national ZIP Code database is maintained by the Address Management System (AMS) Office and request the street name to be corrected.
Is a postal code a ZIP code? ZIP codes are a type of postal code used by the U.S. Postal Service to route mail. First introduced by the Post Office Department in 1963, ZIP stands for zone improvement plan, and was initially established to help the USPS deliver packages.
