Shunsuke Kikuchi created the soundtrack for the original Japanese Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z series.
The score for Dragon Ball Z: Kai initially composed by Kenji Yamamoto was later replaced with Kikuchis original music due to instances of plagiarism.
The whole reason that a replacement soundtrack was put together for Dragon Ball Z Kai is because the series original composer, Kenj Yamamoto, was caught in a comprehensive plagiarism scandal.
Kenji Yamamoto composed background music for Dragon Ball Kai until March 9, 2011, when Toei Animation publicly acknowledged that many of Yamamotos musical works for the series have possibly infringed upon unidentified third-party copyrights.
Unfortunately, Kenji Yamamoto was caught in a plagiarism scandal before Kai finished airing, forcing Toei to re-edit the episodes with Kikuchis original score in place with completely different song placements than the ones heard in DBZ. This makes the main difference between DBZ and DBZ Kai easy to hear.
8 The Replacement Happened Because Kenji Yamamotos Original Score Was Plagiarized. The whole reason that a replacement soundtrack was put together for Dragon Ball Z Kai is because the series original composer, Kenj Yamamoto, was caught in a comprehensive plagiarism scandal.
Im amazed to learn that Nathan Johnson who composed the Gogeta theme in the DBZ movie Fusion Reborn is now the state senator of Texas.
Just ask Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson, two musicians who have built thriving careers as composers and scorers for film and TV, and for the last few years, have created all the original music for the breakout Netflix series Cobra Kai.
