If youamp;#39;re new to Mac you may not even know about one of the most useful apps that comes with your computer. Itamp;#39;s an app called TextEdit. Itamp;#39;s a basic text editor that actually has a lot of functionality. For about 80% to 90% of all the things that people use word processors for you can just use TextEdit. You donamp;#39;t need Pages or Microsoft Word. Now youamp;#39;re not going to find TextEdit in the Dock by default. You have to go to either Launchpad or the Applications folder. Iamp;#39;m going to use Spotlight to search for TextEdit and launch it. Youamp;#39;re faced here with a file open dialogue. You can select a file to open. Iamp;#39;m going to click New Document and it will open up a basic TextEdit window and I can start typing right away. Now there are two modes in TextEdit. This is the plain text mode. Notice there are no options here for changing fonts, styles, anything. Youamp;#39;re just typing text and thatamp;#39;s all you can do here. Now

On iOS or iPadOS, tap the plus (+) sign. Then, type a shortcut in the Shortcut field, which acts as the text replacement trigger, followed by the text expansion in the Phrase field, which is what the text replacement trigger automatically expands into as you type. Tap Save to add it to your list.
Search for text in the toolbar toolbar, then choose Show Find Replace. You can also press Command-F.
You can undo recent changes you make to a document, then redo them if you change your mind. Do any of the following: Undo the last action: Choose Edit Undo (from the Edit menu at the top of your screen), or press Command-Z on your keyboard. Redo the last action you undid: Choose Edit Redo, or press Command-Shift-Z.
While it works across a wide variety of macOS apps, its not available in all apps. This is because it requires third-party developers to enable this feature from their end. For example, popular apps like Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Mozilla Firefox dont work with Text Replacement.
Create text replacements On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Keyboard in the sidebar. Click Text Replacements on the right. Click the Add button in the dialog that appears, type the text to replace (such as teh) and its replacement (such as the), then click Add. Click Done.
Android Search or navigate to Personal Dictionary. Press +. Type your desired output (a word or phrase) into the top section. Next, in the bottom Shortcut section, type what you would like to input to get the previously typed output.
Change selected text to left to right: Press Control-Option-Command-Right Arrow. Change selected text to right to left: Press Control-Option-Command-Left Arrow. Change selected text to the default direction: Press Control-Option-Command-Down Arrow. Change a paragraph to left to right: Press Control-Command-Right Arrow.
Find and replace text in a TextEdit document. In the TextEdit app on your Mac, choose Edit Find Find, then type text in the search field. You can also select text, then choose Edit Find Use Selection for Find.
