welcome to my channel folks now Im going to show you how you can change your launch configuration for an existing order scaling group let us say you have created an ami with security keys and all the necessary configurations and you launched your auto scaling group and after some time you find that your new golden image has been created by your development team and that needs to be deployed into your production auto scaling group so in those cases how you can configure your launch configuration with your new ami and all the latest binaries and how you roll it out to production that is what I am going to show you now so I have a set of simple launch configuration here in my ec2 dashboard let us go ahead and see that now here I have an auto scaling group with two instances and it currently it is running fine and the lifecycle state says that they are in service and there are no problems with it and if I go to my launch configuration now that is my instances and let us go to the launch

Storage for the root device CharacteristicAmazon EBS-backed AMISize limit for a root device64 TiB**Root device volumeEBS volumeData persistenceBy default, the root volume is deleted when the instance terminates.* Data on any other EBS volumes persists after instance termination by default.5 more rows
Create a swap file Use the dd command to create a swap file on the root file system. Update the read and write permissions for the swap file: Set up a Linux swap area: Make the swap file available for immediate use by adding the swap file to swap space: Verify that the procedure was successful:
Create your own AMI You can launch an instance from an existing AMI, customize the instance (for example, software on the instance), and then save this updated configuration as a custom AMI. Instances launched from this new custom AMI include the customizations that you made when you created the AMI.
Adding Swap Space on a Linux System Become a superuser (root) by typing: % su Password: root-password. Create a file in a selected directory to add swap space by typing: dd if=/dev/zero of=/ dir / myswapfile bs=1024 count =numberblocksneeded. Verify that the file was created by typing: ls -l / dir / myswapfile.
AMI Types. AMI is divided into two categories: EBS - backed Instances. Instance Store - backed Instances.
An Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is a template that contains a software configuration (for example, an operating system, an application server, and applications). From an AMI, you launch an instance, which is a copy of the AMI running as a virtual server in the cloud.
To add a swap file: Determine the size of the new swap file in megabytes and multiply by 1024 to determine the number of blocks. At a shell prompt as root, type the following command with count being equal to the desired block size: dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1024 count=65536.
When you launch an instance from an instance store-backed AMI, all the parts have to be retrieved from Amazon S3 before the instance is available. With an Amazon EBS-backed AMI, only the parts required to boot the instance need to be retrieved from the snapshot before the instance is available.
Procedure Browse to the host in the vSphere Client. Click Configure. Under Virtual Machines, click Swap file location. The selected swapfile location is displayed. Click Edit. Select where to store the swapfile. Option. (Optional) If you select Use a specific datastore, select a datastore from the list. Click OK.
You can locate the following shared AMIs from the Amazon EC2 console by selecting the AMIs option from the navigation pane: Private images: that contain all the shared AMIs that are private and only for your use. Public images: that contain all the shared AMIs that have been created for public use.
