The most common side effect of scaling an image larger than its original dimensions is that the image may appear to be very fuzzy or pixelated. Scaling images smaller than the original dimensions does not affect quality as much, but can have other side effects.
How to resize an image. Select. Upload your JPG or PNG to our image resizer tool. Resize. Choose a size template based on the social platform or add your own. Continue editing. Instantly download your resized image or keep editing in docHub Express.
Image editing software such as docHub Photoshop, GIMP, or Pixlr can be used to resize images without losing quality. These programs allow you to adjust the images size while maintaining its original quality.
The Basics: Image Size is the term given to describe the height and width of an image in pixels. Maximum Image Size is determined by the megapixels of a given camera - for example, a 10-megapixel camera will give a maximum image size of 2592 by 3872 pixels.
Enlarge photos without losing quality If you wish to enlarge a photo to double its listed maximum print size, you will need to double the DPI to 600 and resave the image. If you want to blow up a photo to 4 times its maximum size, you will need to quadruple the DPI to 1200, and so on.
The only way to resize a smaller photo into a larger, high-resolution image without highlighting poor image quality is to take a new photograph or re-scan your image at a higher resolution. You can increase the resolution of a digital image file, but you will lose image quality by doing so.
Vector image files. These file types are ideal for resizing images, as they are endlessly scalable. The image proportions are calculated and automatically adjusted using line art equations, making it simple to modify your images without affecting file size or image clarity.
