hello and welcome back my name is Greg French and todayamp;#39;s subject is going to be binary numbers weamp;#39;re going to be dealing with 8bit uh binary numbers 8bit uh just happens to be the number uh that consists of one bite uh IP addresses consists of 32 bits divided into four octets are four uh 8bit uh octets and each octet is going to be a bite uh computers use uh bits uh ones and zeros thatamp;#39;s how it communicates ones and zeros are transmitted both uh to the printer uh to the video screen everything within the computer is running as ones and zeros itamp;#39;s the only numbering system the computer understands doesnamp;#39;t understand English decimal numbering system or anything else uh everything else is translated from ones to zeros into English or something for us to understand now getting on with binaries uh starting with uh the first bit here number one uh if you notice we go to 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 this is the powers of two uh this would be 2 to the power of 0
