You can add a shape to a PDF or to an image using the Shapes tool in the Markup toolbar, and then rotate the shape or change its sides or angles.
These are the main reasons why: Preview doesnt have an editing feature. The app doesnt have the option to edit existing text in a PDF. However, it offers Markup and Annotations tools you can use for collaborating by adding notes and text to the document.
Click a shape to select it. Choose Format Shapes and Lines Make Editable (from the Format menu at the top of your screen). Double-click a white handle to change a line from curved to straight.
Shift-click to select multiple shapes and rotate them together. Change a shapes sides and angles: For some shapes (stars and hexagons, for example), you can change the number of sides and angles. Select the shape, then drag one of the green handles.
In the Preview app on your Mac, click the Show Markup Toolbar button (if the Markup toolbar isnt showing). Use the tools in the toolbar to mark up the image (or use the Touch Bar). Use any of the following shape tools to select an area in an image and then crop, copy, or delete: Rectangular Selection.
Select the Shape Selection tool , and then select the Show Bounding Box option. Do one of the following: Click the shape you want to transform, and then drag an anchor to transform the shape. Select the shape you want to transform, choose Image Transform Shape, and then choose a transformation command.

Rotate a shape: Select the shape and place the pointer over it, place your thumb and a finger on the trackpad, then pivot them around each other as if youre turning a jar lid. Shift-click to select multiple shapes and rotate them together.
