However, they are not the same thing and have some key differences. Redlining is typically used to show changes or revisions to a document and can be done using the Track Changes feature in Word. This allows changes to be tracked and reviewed and comments to be added to the document.
Enable the redline feature by clicking the Track Changes icon. While it might look different depending on your computers version of Word, the icon often appears as a piece of paper with a bent corner, red and gray lines and a blue pencil laying over it. You can also turn on the feature by pressing Control + Shift + E.
Try it! Select Review Display for Review. Select the option you want: Simple Markup points out where changes are made with a red line in the margin. All Markup shows all edits with different colors of text and lines. In the Show Markup list, select the types of revisions youd like to see: Comments.
Redlining is the process of tracking changes between document drafts. The name derives from those familiar red lines word processing programs add under text when they track changes.
Choose the way track changes display In line revisions display all deletions with strikethroughs instead of inside balloons. Go to Review Show Markup. Select Balloons and then select the type of display you want.
To redline your document with the automated Track Changes feature, follow these steps: Open your document. To begin, open the document you want to edit or change. Turn on the redlining feature. Choose the proper markup. Find the Strikethrough button. Find the font color button. Use these features as you change text.
Change the track changes color Go to Review Tracking Dialog Launcher . Select Advanced Options. Select the arrows next to the Color boxes and choose By author. You can also color-code text moves and changes made to table cells.
Heres how you can become a redline pro: Open the document in Word. Go to the Review tab. Select Track Changes from the drop-down arrow in the Tracking section. Make your edits and watch them appear as red markup.
