If your Excel spreadsheet isnt printing properly, clearing or setting a print area can often help. Sometimes the wrong print area has already been set, in which case you want to clear it. SEE: Explore this side-by-side comparison of Google Workspace vs. Microsoft 365.
Print all or part of a worksheet Select File, and then click Print. Under Settings, select the arrow next to Print Active Sheets and select the appropriate option. Select Print. Note: If a worksheet has defined print areas, Excel will print only those print areas.
On the worksheet, select the cells that you want to define as the print area. Tip: To set multiple print areas, hold down the Ctrl key and click the areas you want to print. Each print area prints on its own page. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Print Area, and then click Set Print Area.
Reduce or enlarge a sheet to fit the page On the Page Layout tab, select Page Setup. On the Page tab, select the Adjust to check box, and select the percentage to reduce or enlarge the sheet. Note: Printed data never exceeds 100%. On the File menu, click Print.
On the worksheet, click and drag to select the cells you want to print. Select File Print Print. To print only the selected area, in Print Options, select Current Selection. If the print preview shows what you want printed, select Print.
Some Excel sheets show a strange behavior when you print them or do a print preview. This can be caused by the wrong DPI setting for the Excel sheet you are looking at. It is easily fixed if you change the DPI setting to something meaningful. First, you click the small icon on the Page Layout tab.
Check print range and settings: Make sure the print range is properly set in Excel. Select the desired cells or range that you want to print, then go to the Page Layout tab and check the print settings such as orientation, margins, and scaling. Adjust them as needed.
If you dont set the correct page orientation, some columns (or rows) might shift to the next page in print. You should select Landscape orientation if youve got a worksheet with more columns than rows. Conversely, Portrait orientation is better for worksheets having more rows and fewer columns.
