governance has become an important topic as more teams are working with data today weamp;#39;re going to talk about how nasa makes governance easy by giving everyone the tools to manage governance and making it super easy to visualize governance at every part of your data flow so letamp;#39;s see how nexa makes that actually happen in this example weamp;#39;re going to walk through a very general and common use case which is some data engineering team that has a data set that contains sensitive data or pii such as ip addresses emails etc this is for this example this is just mocked up data and not actual real user data so we need to get this to an analyst who needs to analyze this data so the engineer will have to mask just the pii from the data so that it can actually be used by the analyst the engineer or anyone can just use nexla to automatically ingest this data and create a next set which we will apply a hashing function to mask the pii make the resulting non-sensitive

Google Cloud offers the Data Loss Prevention API, which is part of Sensitive Data Protection. You can invoke that from within the API proxy to mask data in your XML document. Pseudo code for a REST request to do this is here. To do that you need to escape the XML, via a Message Template with escapeJSON .
Today, JSON is the most widely-used format, but it only overtook XML within the last five years. A quick online search for XML vs. JSON will bring countless articles and blog posts comparing the two standards, and amounting to a progressively expanding bias praising JSONs simplicity and criticizing XMLs verbosity.
If you want to store several different data types with many variables, then XML is the better choice. XML checks for errors in complex data more efficiently than JSON, as XML focuses on storing data in a machine-readable way.
JSON is generally a better choice for APIs, mobile apps, and data storage, while XML is better suited for complex document structures that require data exchange.
Q: Is XML still being used? A: XML is still used in many circumstances where its advantages come to the forefront. This is particularly true in applications or environments where document markup and metadata are important or where you need to work with XHTML or SVG.
Personally, I like to use TOML for anything that is likely to also be edited by humans and JSON or binary for something that will only ever be used by machines. I still see people, in 2024, writing new software and using XML as the data format. Because its a pragmatic choice with a large, mature, proven ecosystem.
Identifying the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of a Field.
Many developers believe that XML failed and was replaced with JSON, but this could not be further from the truth. Originally, XML was envisioned to be used for all data interoperability problems, and to this day remains as the worlds most widely-used format for representing and exchanging information.
