with solidworks 2017 just around the corner i wanted to share with you my favorite feature in the next release this is one for all of you managing your data in solidworks pdm and itamp;#39;s called latest version overwrite in previous versions of pdm a new file version was created for any change to a file or its metadata and in many cases this wasnamp;#39;t really necessary for instance checking in your files at the end of the day fixing a typo on a drawing or even upgrading a file from one major release version to another in 2017 your pdm administrator can allow users to overwrite the current file version with a brand new setting letamp;#39;s take a look iamp;#39;ve changed the view style of a section view on this assembly drawing which doesnamp;#39;t require incrementing the version in the check-in dialogue you can see it defaults to moving from version 7 to version 8. by simply clicking overwrite latest version the drawing stays at version 7 and no unnecessary changes are store
