What was that rumbling? When Alice is making Jack breakfast, and later when shes shopping with her gal pals, the world around them shudders violently, rattling glass and nerves. Peg (a crackerjack Kate Berlant) speculates that the rumblings come from underground laboratories, where Project Victory is building weapons.
The 10 Most Unsettling Moments In Dont Worry Darling Stepford Wives. Warner Bros. Unexplained plane crash. Warner Bros. Alices Wonderland. Warner Bros. Margarets tragic fate. Warner Bros. Frank comes to dinner. Warner Bros. Abduction of Alice. Warner Bros. The Victory Project. Warner Bros. The final chase. Warner Bros.
As for the earthquakes, TikTok users either believe they are an effect of all the men leaving at once, or it is simply the characters physical bodies shifting positions in the real world. Gaslighting is a theme present throughout the movie, as Alice is told she is going crazy anytime she brings up her experiences.
The twist ending of Dont Worry Darling is that Victory is actually a simulation. Frank (Chris Pine) came up with this idea because he wanted men to be able to control women and live as if its still the 1950s. Alice is understandably horrified to learn about what Victory really is.
In one scene sort of early in the movie, Alice is cooking, as always, and notices that the eggs shes using are empty. This is because she decided to make deviled eggs last minute instead of making tuna, and because it wasnt in the usual routine of eggs for breakfast, the eggs were empty when she crushed them.
Without witnessing the apparent plane crash, Alice might never have made such a breakthrough. This would mean that she would not have been able to become free of the Victory Project had she not seen the plane. For this reason, the plane in Dont Worry Darling can be seen as a symbol of Alices escape.
He and the other men of Victory cant tell their wives a thing about those strange noises in the distance, or the bizarre earthquakes that rattle the neighborhood at random intervals. The audience is meant to believe Jack and his cohort are working on something reminiscent of the Manhattan Project.
Rotten score. Despite great chemistry between Pine and Pugh and amazing production costume design, the obvious and nonsensical plot and Harry Styles unconvincing performance ultimately sinks the film.
