Resetting the KRBTGT password twice in a large environment in a short period of time may cause authentication outages. If you want to avoid this you must be sure before resetting the password the second time, that replication was completed to all DCs - for example by monitoring the krbtgt account replication metadata.
When youre logged in to your MyChart account, you can change your password by going to Account Settings. If you cannot log in, you can reset your password using the Forgot Password? link on the login screen.
🚫 DO NOT RESET THE KRBTGT ACCOUNT PASSWORD MORE THAN ONCE PER 10 HOUR PERIOD. ⚠️ YOU MUST RESET THE KRBTGT PASSWORD TWICE, AT LEAST 10 HOURS BETWEEN RESETS. ⚠️ ONLY EVER RESET THE PASSWORD TWICE IN QUICK SUCCESSION IN RESPONSE TO A GOLDEN TICKET ATTACK OR AD COMPROMISE/RECOVERY SCENARIO.
Resetting the Kerberos password with ADUC Click on Start. In the search box enter ADUC. Click on View and then click on Advanced features. In the console tree, double-click the domain container, and then select Users. In the Details pane, right-click the KRBTGT user account and then select Reset Password.
The password history value for the krbtgt account is 2, meaning it includes the 2 most recent passwords. By resetting the password twice you effectively clear any old passwords from the history, so there is no way another DC will replicate with this DC by using an old password.
The KRBTGT account is disabled for logon purposesand should remain so. The accounts purpose is only to facilitate Kerberos authentication within the Active Directory domain. Safeguard the KRBTGT account. Compromise of the account can lead to severe security bdocHubes, including Golden Ticket attacks.
