In Word, each page automatically has a one-inch margin. You can customize or choose predefined margin settings, set margins for facing pages, allow extra margin space to allow for document binding, and change how margins are measured.
Click the File tab. Click Options. Click Advanced. Check the Show text boundaries box.
Go to the Layout tab and click the Margins drop-down menu. Once the different preset margin formats are displayed, select one from the selection that suits your needs. If what you need is not in the options, select Custom Margins. This will launch the Page Setup dialogue box in the middle of your window.
Here are the steps: Open the document. Click Layout tab. Click Margins in the Page Setup group. Select a predefined option or click Custom Margins at the bottom. Enter your desired measurements in the Page Setup dialog box. Adjust other settings such as orientation and paper size.
Showing Margins in Word Click on the View tab. Then, check the box next to Ruler in the Show section. The gray sections on the ruler represent the margins of the page.
Select Layout Margins. Select Custom Margins. In Margins, use the Up and Down arrows to enter the values you want. Select OK when done.
For instance, there could be some macro running behind-the-scenes that checks to see when margins get changed. The macro could then update other documents or templates to reflect the changes. This situation should be easy to recognize; just check to see if there are any macros associated with your documents.
