Got questions?

Below are some common questions from our customers that may provide you with the answer you're looking for. If you can't find an answer to your question, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

You may only cancel your unemployment claim if your claim has not ended, a Notice of Determination, (DE 1080), has not been mailed, no benefits have been paid, and no overpayment has been established on the claim. If your claim is canceled, you can file a new unemployment claim at a later date.
The following is a list of some common reasons for denial: Voluntarily leaving work without good cause. Being discharged for misconduct connected with work. Not being able to work or available for work. Refusing an offer of suitable work. Knowingly making false statements to obtain benefit payments.
To change your claim: Write what needs to be corrected on your Notice of Award and mail it to the EDD address on the notice. In your UI Online account, select Contact Us to request a change.
Correcting Mistakes Check the wages we show for you on your Statement of Wages and Potential Benefit Amounts and call a TWC Tele-Center at 800-939-6631 immediately if there are mistakes such as: Incorrect Social Security Number. Missing wages. Wrong amount of wages.
Unemployment Compensation uses the wages earned during the base period to decide if a worker will qualify monetarily for unemployment benefits. If the worker does qualify, the wages determine the weekly amount and duration of benefits. Rework: A worker can requalify for benefits by going back to work and earning wages.
If you make a mistake on the paper form, you must request a replacement by Contacting UI or through Ask EDD as indicated below: Category: Unemployment Insurance Benefits. Sub-Category: docHub for Continued Benefits.
If the EDD finds that you willfully and knowingly provided incorrect information or withheld information about your earnings so that you could be paid benefits, you could receive 2 to 23 false statement penalty weeks. These penalty weeks will be added to your current or future unemployment claim.
The EDD collects employment data from employers and can detect unreported wages, so it is important that you report any earned wages to avoid committing UI fraud.
