The History Panel is a tool which creates a chronological top-down view of everything you do in your working session in Photoshop. To access the History Panel, choose Window History, or click the History Panel tab if its already activated in your workspace (highlighted in the Featured image above).

How to record a history log in Photoshop. Go to EditPreferencesGeneral. There you will find the History Log check box as shown below. Click on that box to activate the function.
1 Open the Undo History panel by choosing Window Undo History. This panel keeps track of the last 50 actions that you have performed while the current file was open. The Undo History panel records the last 50 actions performed by default. The Undo History for a file is restarted every time the file is opened.
Using the History panel Open it: Grom the menu at the top of the page, choose Window History. Select it: Choose an edit and click it to revert to the previous state of your project.
Undo: Moves one step back in the undo chain. Choose Edit Undo or use the keyboard shortcut Control + Z (Win) / Command + Z (Mac). Redo: Moves one step forward. Choose Edit Redo or use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Control + Z (Win) / Shift + Command + Z (Mac).
If you have File History set up on your Windows PC, you can easily restore Photoshop files by restoring the previous versions. Open Control Panel. Go to File History Restore personal files. Click the green Restore button to get the PSD files back.
